Re: Removing MS3X drivers and jumpering around

That MS3x board is oversized and goes into the slots in the top half of the case, so I'd have to have the wires to the P&H board long enough to reach when you slide the top off. As it is, it seems like there's barely enough room to get the cables in there while sliding it shut. I figure this way, I ...

Removing MS3X drivers and jumpering around

I just desoldered the VND5N07 injector drivers from the MS3x, I plan to run a standard P&H board externally by jumpering the VND's old input to it's old output. I shot some video, mostly of the process I used to remove the VND's.. Can I embed youtube here? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xF3cUpTth8s ...

Re: Looking for used lambda sensors, will trade for new one

I've got one with about 60k miles on it, from my old turbo van. Still works fine, near as I can tell. I really have no idea how many miles are on the one in my Omni, maybe 20k, maybe 15k.. I'd call it abused though. It lived through the alpha testing of MS2-Extra when it was first being developed. A...

Re: SLC_OEM

I don't think you realize just how LEAN these sensors can read.. I've seen over 30:1 reported by logworks with my LC1 (during decel). Sure, if you're trying to use it with a diesel, that might be handy, but with spark ignition engines, 30:1 just isn't useful, and tuning the sensor to read in that ra...

Re: Logging ignition timing

Everyone that switches to MS has that same idea. In the end, we learn that tuning the timing, and especially the fuel is nowhere near as hard as we thought it'd be. Even on a turbo car, you can do it without blowing the head off the thing if you take your time.

Re: Trigger outputs based on another CAN device

Nice job with the changes, Phil. I agree, turning off the excess data while leaving the INI active will be a great improvement. I'll give it a whirl in the Omni sometime this weekend if I can get some time alone with the car. :)

heh, that's cool that you got it to work out for you. I usually just play with the numbers till I find something that works well for me. Little bit this way, no... Little bit that way, yeah... :)

Re: BCM firmware for the IO-x

Body Control Module. I figure since it's not controlling the engine, that makes it more of a BCM than an ECM.. Though in most cases, a BCM has a constant power source and does things like keep the radio on till you get out, and shut the dome light off after a certain amount of time if you leave the ...

BCM firmware for the IO-x

I was thinking (while driving my diesel that cannot currently be DIY injected in any way), it'd be great to have some more standalone type firmware for the IO-x. There are a few things I would like to do with this car, that it seems like it'd be good for. EGT's, radiator fan control, RPM, speed logg...

Ok, so I should put both to 128 and 0. Will do.

Re: VSS into IOx then into MS3 firmware

So I set the IO-x back to the default as stated, 128 and 3. And my VSS started working pretty well. Then I changed the MS to 128 and 3, and it went back to reading 1/10th of reality. Setting the MS back to 16 and 3, it works, but at 66% of reality. I had to increase my tire diameter by 33% to get it...

Ok, yeah, I don't think I ever changed it on the IOx. I can double check, but that's probably it. Thanks. :)

VSS into IOx then into MS3 firmware

I'm using the same settings I used for the VSS in my old van, but the speed is reading 1/10th of reality for some reason.. Just want to confirm I am using the right settings before I move on to the MS forums and ask there.. On the MS, under CAN, I have: Enable PWM polling: 16bit CAN id: 5 table numb...

Cool, I posted in the alpha thread.. Any suggestions on a frequency (and settings to get to that frequency) that would probably work? I don't really have any documentation on that valve..

Using high current output with MS3

I don't think I've ever tried to use the outputs on the IO-Extender before. So this is the first time I've ever set this up. What I'm trying to do is use HOUT1 to drive the lockup torque converter solenoid on my transmission (blew up the electronic trans, I'm soooo done with that thing, this is just...

Re: Alternative to FR302??

I called Digikey and asked them to figure it out for me. They suggested PN 497-3246-1-ND as an alternative. I went ahead and went with that, it's rated 600v instead of 100v.. Should be fine.. :)

Alternative to FR302??

Crazy enough, I went to order components for the last Peak & Hold board I have here, putting it in a customer's MS unit.. And Digikey is telling me the FR302 has been discontinued?!?! What is a suitable alternative that'll fit, they they might have in stock still? I used to have tons of these things...

Re: Direct input WBO digital data to IO-x

Yes, the SLC OEM is supported through I2C. In addition to the TechEdge which has been requested, the PLX has also been requested. One thing to remember is that the TechEdge protocol and interface only allows one controller per RS232 port. So it would be limited to one controller at first and possib...

Yeah, he's reached 1.0, good time to start adding new features again. :) The way you describe it does sound like it would make it very effortless for the end user.
