Re: More Subaru troubles

I'm installing them internally with power coming from the 5v proto area, this is the way i've always done it. No 12v anywhere near it! The first board you sent has no 12v regulator (the pic is actually from your website, i was just using it for illustrative purposes). So none of them have the extra ...

Re: More Subaru troubles

Picture1.png Jean, Just got the 2 new boards. thanks! So i noticed on my first board, the jumper circled above is "open" On the 2 new ones, it's shorted What does it do? Does it need to be shorted for the unit to work? Perhaps that's why the first stopped working? (although it's never been shorted,...

Re: More Subaru troubles

Your products helped! Your Stim board helped me ensure the MS was built right, your breakout board helped troubleshoot all the connections, and your VR conditioner is working with the subaru sensors. So I'm not kidding when I say "I couldn't have gotten this far without you!" My intent is to run Sol...

Re: More Subaru troubles

So swapped crank VR sensor polarity, and removed 12k inline resistors. Kept 2.2k resistors. No sync loss all the way up to 6.5K RPM!
Yay!
Now I get to figure out tuning (both timing and fuel)

Thanks!

Simon

Re: More Subaru troubles

Thanks Jean I will scope the input & the corresponding outputs. The issue is that without a 4 channel scope or something, it will be hard to see the sync issue where the CAM and CRANK pulses all look good, but they don't "fit together" correctly. But it will show the VR signal and the corresponding ...

Re: More Subaru troubles

One thought - could this be because I have one of the VR sensors wired w the wrong polarity? How you figure out what polarity is correct, beyond just trying it?

More Subaru troubles

So I'm struggling with my Subaru install. Clean engine and wiring build (in a kit car). EJ254 engine with stock 6/7 wheel VR sensors and wasted spark coil. Cam and Crank sensors come directly to the MSII running ms/extra. Using the v 2.1 dual VR board for both signals, I bring both VR+ and VR- direc...

Re: Subaru 6/7 advice

Ok, so key question - how do you tell if you have a VR sensor polarity wrong?

Re: JimStim input into MegaSquirt

Jean, I can't believe it's been 2 years since I posted my previous question. I started with the electronics, spend 2 yrs building the car, and now am back to getting it all wired up. So I've pickup up my megasquirt & jimstim (v 1.4, code 2.0.3), and I'm using tunerstudio. Setup is Subaru 6/7 with a ...

VVT for Subaru?

One idea for an "extension" item would be to be able to control variable valve timing. In my case it would be for a Subaru engine. I noticed that DIYAutoTune is now selling one for the Miata engine, but I don't know how that controller output is different then what would be needed for a Subaru. The ...

Re: Signal Interceptor now available

Jean,
Just got my board. Looks good.

However, I noticed that the tracks for SPR2-4 through the jumper header are fairly thin. I'm driving the 2nd one of my coils through SPR4, so I think I may need to beef it up. What do you think?

Thanks,
Simon

Re: JimStim input into MegaSquirt

Jean, Just wanted to let you know that it's working perfectly now. I added the 0.1mfd capacitor in series to the 2nd trigger and upped the pull-up to 12V, and the RPMs looks good. I scoped both in the input & output signals, and they are as expected. Perhaps this should get added to your online docs...

Re: JimStim input into MegaSquirt

Great! Thanks for the quick reply. I will try it tonight! One additional question on the pullups - once I transition this setup to the real engine, do I need to replicate this pullup feature with the engine's VR sensors somehow? I guess I'm a little confused with the concept. I'm an engineer, but Ae...

JimStim input into MegaSquirt

Hi, First off - thanks for making a great device! It was easy to put together and everything went together smoothly. I am attempting to build a megasquirt-II v3 (MS2/extra firmware), to run a JDM EJ25 Subaru engine in a kit-car application. My engine has a 6/7 crank wheel, so I want to use the 6/7 w...
