In parallel with stock ECU?

Postby NSFW » Tue Mar 08, 2016 1:16 am

Is it generally safe - or unsafe - to connect a dual VR board in parallel with a stock ECU? Or is it reasonable to even make such a generalization?

I am going to make a standalone cam angle controller for my Subaru, and this would be a convenient way to get crankshaft speed and position. However my background is in software, not hardware, so I could use some advice.

Thanks!

It is difficult to say so the best way would be to try it. It should be safe and is likely to work because the board has a relatively high impedance. But you should try this in a controlled environment so that if something happens, such as the ECU shutting down the engine, it won't cause an accident.

Just wondering if there's any update to this?

Did it work well?
