Dual VR v2.0 success BMW ABS wheel speed

Postby 5mall5nail5 » Sun May 08, 2011 6:04 pm

Hey guys - my ECU requires hall sensor wheel speed signals. I was dreading making trigger wheels and mounts for sensors. The BMW stuff has a ton of teeth and nice VR sensors. So, I received my board, wired it, potted it, wired it to the car... and...

^^ That's it doing about 25 mph!

Then I wired it up to the ECU and guessed some settings in until it lined up with my gauge speedometer.

Doing 44 mph! Very nice!

now I need to order a 2nd one to get front wheel speed in :)

Nice! Good to see it's working for you.

What's the number of teeth on the wheel?

Good question Jean -

I haven't counted yet, but it's a lot of teeth :)

Here is the front wheel bearing for an idea of what the teeth look like. Not sure of the diameter. Right now I just subbed settings in the ECU until the ECU speedo lined up with my car. That is, the ECU wants to know "How many teeth on the wheel and how many millimeters traveled per revolution of the wheel?" - I put in 30 teeth and 1300 mm... It could be less or more teeth (I am guessing more). I can just trick it with the distance math.
