Jbperf 4-channel not giving injector pulse

Postby dannymo » Tue Mar 31, 2015 11:01 pm

Ok so trying to sequential injecting with jbperf 4-channel board to work. Having the same issue with all channels. I bust my lab scope and jimstim. found that i have 4 spots that i can get a signal but not where it counts and the connector. I think i might have bad chip things (q-5 to q8). i have a picture attatched so you can see where i am getting pulse signals. I get pulse signal at inj1, right of r5, left of r9, and upper left of q5. but i get none at the inject 1 spots for the connector. Bad q5? i did post this in msextra before relizing there is a forum here. soooo sorry

There is no picture attached (neither here or on the msextra forum).

I would think it is very unlikely to have bad chips for all of them. Can you post a picture of your board?

some details i should probably mention. i checked pulse width with my scope and jimstim. i put a lead on 5v and another lead and i can see the pulse width. idk if this is the correct way as too do it. Also, all the pins just flicker at 3volts

I'm not clear on exactly what you're doing or what you're measuring but I want to make sure of one thing: you do know that the output is a grounding signal, right? So if you don't have a device connected on the output (on the DB15 connector) that is also connected to a voltage source, you won't get a signal. And you also need to have the ground connected on the DB15.

It may or may not be relevant, but you also seem to have a whole bunch of solder flux residue on that board. A lot of people have chased their tails trouble-shooting malfunctions that went away once they cleaned their boards. Point to ponder ...

i did test with it on the car too and wasn't getting anything. ill re recheck my grounds tomorrow and see if that makes any differences. oh maybe ill try to clean up the residue. anything in particular that clean it off well?

Isopropyl alcohol. Get the good stuff ( 99% ) at the drug store. Do NOT use the cheap stuff, or anything sold as "rubbing alcohol". Not only does it not work as well (70%, or even 50%), but it often includes stuff like camphor and menthol to make your skin feel better. It might make YOU smell pretty, but your electronics will not appreciate it!

ok well i found out that i have a constant 5v for the trigger and it pulses down. also, found out that is not good and probably the source of the problem. I don't know where to start with this. anyone know what could cause this?

You need to check your ignition settings and invert your spark output polarity.
