MS3X ignition connection

Postby beast02 » Thu Oct 29, 2015 11:51 am

I haven't seen this topic directly addressed here and I need to figure out where my issue is.

I have wired the ignition input to my 4-channel driver board from the MS3X DB37 ignition output pads (soldered a wire from the same spot the DB37 solders to). This wire then goes to the ignition input on the 4-channel board.

Reason I am writing this is when I do the "test triggering" of the COP's on my car, they don't fire.....so i'm trying to troubleshoot this.

Please let me know if this is an ok path to route the wiring, i'll try to post pics tonight.

Thanks,

Bryan

Bryan,

I assume you are using the high current drivers on the 4-channel driver board. If that's the case, your setup as described should work. But you also need to have your settings correctly set.

One easy way to see that you have the correct settings is to use a 12V light bulb in place of the ignition coil. This way you can see that the light is off and only turns on when you use the test mode (make sure to use a long dwell to allow time for the light to turn on).

In addition to the pictures, you should describe exactly how everything is wired so that I know how the coils are powered and how the 4-channel board is grounded.

I'll post pics of the actual board, but here is my schematic showing the coil wiring. I'll try the LED light idea tonight as well.

Thanks,

There isn't another pic but I see the problem: you got the drivers the wrong way in. The board should be the other way around (the silkscreen should be away from the case so you should see it). If you look at the silkscreen, you will see the dot on the left for pin one which should correspond to the dot on the drivers.
