How do I test the board

Postby Bob Pendleton » Mon Aug 01, 2016 1:03 pm

I am running a MS3.357w/3X and using 3X to send ign output to your 4 channel ign driver board.
I was running my engine the other day and tuning and all was working fine. After a couple of hours, the engine died and won't start.
I get a tooth pattern in diagnostics but no composite pattern.
On Jimstim and jimstimX, MS3 seems to be putting out spark output.
How can I prove the JBPerf 4 channel board?
Thanks, Bob Pendleton.

The easiest way would be to use the test node and check if you see a signal going to the board and if you can trigger the coils with the board. Also, make sure the tab on the IGBT is not grounded; that is something that can happen if the hardware is not correctly aligned (mainly the black nylon shoulder washer) and/or if you tighten the nut too much and crush it. There's also the possibility that some swarf from drilling a mounting hole can ground the tab. And these things can also be intermittent.
