If it *always* received the 'cut' and 'reset' messages in the same order every CAN cycle, it might not cause problems. If the reset preceded the cut, either contiuously or intermittently, the engine would run quite roughly - if at all!

Not quite what I meant. If the input pin is in one position, you have a continuous stream of shutdown messages and in the other position you have a stream of reset messages. So it would just be a question of having the same state repeated not alternating between states which would be problematic.

Ah! Understood. Agreed, that would (hopefully) have little to no effect on the running of the engine.

The hard part then becomes selecting which message to send ... (It isn't *hard*, just select the 'load message from' location depending on the pin status. Just takes some coding. By someone who knows what they're doing.) ;)
