tinyIOx - getting running

Postby edgedj » Sun Feb 18, 2018 3:39 pm

Can anyone offer any tips for getting my new tinyIOx up and running. I have connected CANH and CANL to my megasquirt (V3 1.5.1), I have a 5v input and ground but I'm getting nothing showing on portscanner apart from the following:

Port: COM3
CAN ID 00: MS3/Pro/Gold

When I try and add the CAN id in Tunerstudio it doesn't detect but does give some mismatch of firmware versions and expected MS firmware warnings when I pick CAN ID4 and set it to serial (not correct I know).

I've put an oscilloscope on the CANL and CANH connections and they seem to be putting out the same varying signal and voltages (just watching patterns) as the Megasquirt CANL and CANH connections do but still nothing shows up in port scanner.

I see on the msextra forum that you got the TinyIOx working. If you still have problems, please post here and I'll see what can be done. By the way, how did you solve your issue?

Hi Jean,

Yes you're quite right I've sorted this out, I couldn't update my post until it was moderated however so apologies for the delay.

The problem was quite straightforward in the end, I followed the below linked sequence on the Miata forums for getting going and hadn't checked that the CAN H and CAN L inputs on the MS board are not connected to JS6 and JS8, once I got around this it came to life.

I've installed the tinyIOx inside a business card clear plastic box and this seems just perfect for the board itself and a little USB power adaptor. I will post some pictures of it in a bit.
