Which board exactly do you have? Do you have the base IOx board only or do you also have the logger+ board?

I'm not sure how good a GPS module is in a drag race setting but you will need a module that can be connected to a 5V serial interface and it will need to be set to send the NMEA sentences RMC and GGA (those are the only ones the IOx will read). If you can't find a 5V module, you will also need to build an interface circuit. And I would assume you need a module that can do at least 10Hz.
