Should TinyIOx use main ground or sensor ground?

Post by jsiedlicki » Sun Nov 10, 2019 11:26 am

I am only using my TinyIOx for collecting additional analog inputs. Should I be using the the MS sensor ground or a main power ground?

Currently I have it setup using the MS sensor ground as it made building the analog conditioning circuits easier inside the external case I made for the TinyIOx. I also figured that it was needed so the ADC conversion was more accurate, but I am re-configuring my wiring and if I should bring in a power ground to connect to the TinyIOx, now would be the time to change it.

Thank you,
John

The TIOx ADCs use the ground on the TIOx board as their reference. The MS sensor ground is for reference for its own ADCs. So you should use a (clean) power ground for the TIOx. And that ground is also used for the CPU and the other chips on the TIOx board which is another reason not to use the MS sensor ground.
